Michelle N. Johnson, Esq.

Michelle Johnson is currently the chief people officer for Community Healthcare Network. She was hired in 2021 as its first chief diversity and people officer. She is a New York licensed attorney who has primarily worked in the nonprofit sector specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion, labor/employment law, Title IX, discipline, collective bargaining/union procedures, compliance, investigations, and training/development. Prior to joining CHN, Michelle was the senior director of diversity, inclusion, and community engagement for Westchester Medical Center Health Network, headquartered in Valhalla, NY. She also served as the chief diversity officer/director, employment equity and diversity/Title IX coordinator at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. After serving as a law clerk with the Superior Court of New Jersey and as an associate attorney with a civil defense firm, Michelle spent eight years as senior counsel with the New York City Department of Education.

Michelle earned her BA in American Government from the University of Virginia and her JD from Widener University School of Law-Wilmington, DE. She previously served as co-chair for the activities and events committee on the New York Advisory Board for the Tri-State Diversity Council, a local chapter of the National Diversity Council. She was also a six-year trustee for Greenwich Academy, a college preparatory day school for girls in grades Pre-K through 12, where she served as co-chair for the diversity, equity, and inclusion committee. Michelle does public service work within her surrounding communities as part of a graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a service-based organization. Michelle is vice chair/chief compliance officer for the Paige Fraser Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded to inspire young emerging artists, with or without physical challenges, to reach their full potential. She was also a mentor with Judge Judy’s Her Honor program.
